St. Cloud, FL – El personal del St. Cloud Fire Rescue (SCFR) presentó una ceremonia para lucir su nuevo camión de bomberos (Tower 31) el 17 de noviembre en el Fire Station #31. La ceremonia (llamada Push Back Ceremony) es una tradición dentro del cuerpo de bomberos que vuelve al tiempo cuando los carros de bomberos tirados por caballos tenían que ser desenganchados de los caballos y empujado manualmente hasta la estación por los bomberos.
“Esta ceremonia le hace homenaje a nuestro pasado y también celebra el futuro de nuestro departamento”, dijo el jefe de bomberos, Bill Johnston. “Ésta es una gran manera de recordar nuestra extensa historia y trae gran orgullo para nuestros equipos al tener a este camión moderno que está ahora en servicio y servirá a nuestra comunidad por muchos años. Tenemos que darle las gracias a muchas personas, inclusive al concilio, al administrador municipal, a nuestro jefe de bomberos anterior, Charlie Lewis; y a nuestro personal. Éste es sinceramente un símbolo de nuestro orgullo y de nuestra dedicación a nuestros ciudadanos”.
Esta ceremonia de dedicación, primera en su clase para SCFR, incluyó una mojada de Tower 31 (T-31) por el camión de bomberos que reemplaza, un Grumman Telesquirt de 50 pies del 1987; el empujón de T-31 hasta la estación, el secar de T-31, y el anuncio de radio para el personal de despacho para introducir al T-31 al servicio. El camión de bomberos jubilado fue transferido al St. Cloud Police Department; será convertido en una unidad de operaciones para servicio contínuo.

St. Cloud, FL – St. Cloud Fire Rescue (SCFR) hosted a Push Back Ceremony for a new tower truck (Tower 31) November 17 at Fire Station #31. A Push Back Ceremony is a tradition within the fire service that goes back to when horse-drawn carts were unhooked from the horses and pushed back into the station by hand.
“This ceremony honors our past as we celebrate our future within the department,” said Fire Chief Bill Johnston. “This is a great way to remember our rich history and it brings great pride for our crews to have this state-of-the-art engine that is now in service and will serve our community for many years to come. We have many people to thank, including City Council, City Manager, former Fire Chief Charlie Lewis, and our personnel. This is truly a symbol of our pride and dedication to our citizens.”
This first-time-ever type of dedication ceremony for SCFR included a wet down of Tower 31 (T-31) by the retiring engine it replaces, a 50-foot 1987 Grumman Telesquirt; the push back of T-31, the drying off of T-31, and the radio announcement to dispatch that introduced T-31 into service. The retired engine will be transferred to St. Cloud Police Department; it will be converted into a special operations unit for continued service.
The new tower truck features a 450-horsepower Cummins engine, 62-inch cab with 10-inch raised roof, 1500 gallons per minute hale pump, 500-gallon water, 8 kilowatt Smart Power Generator, Hannay Electric Cord Reel, Full Back wall Emergency Medical Services cabinet, front raised roof storage in cab, special rear 2.5-inch preconnect, Extend Front Bumper with discharge, light-emitting diode warning light package, David Clark Intercom System, and Stainless Steel body with shelves, trays, and tool boards.
