Está por terminar la temporada 2022-23 en Europa, y es momento de repasar si las campañas de los grandes han sido un éxito, un fracaso, o agridulces.
Barcelona: éxito
Si bien los culés fueron, otra vez, eliminados en su grupo en Champions, no pudieron avanzar una sola ronda en Europa League, y también fueron humillados por el Madrid en la Copa del Rey, lo importante esta temporada era volver a ganar el título local, y lo consiguieron con mucha calma. No fue el Barça de Guardiola o de Cruyff, de hecho la marca de este equipo fue dejar la portería en ceros, que han hecho 25 veces en el año, un récord de este siglo. Desde la última Liga que habían ganado, cuatro años atrás, habían pasado pesadilla tras pesadilla dentro y fuera de la cancha, por eso es tal la importancia de esta Liga sobre todo lo demás. Ahora, el próximo año, los objetivos serán distintos.
Real Madrid: agridulce
Los merengues “solo” ganaron dos títulos en la temporada: el Mundial de Clubes y la primera Copa del Rey en nueve años. Al madridista le sabrá a poco, pero para cualquier otro club hubiera sido un éxito total. Le pasaron encima a otros grandes como el Barça, Liverpool y Chelsea, pero esta temporada será marcada por la debacle en el Etihad, un 4-0 imborrable, y cómo tiraron La Liga por la borda. Ahora, hasta la continuidad de Ancelotti está en duda.
Inter: éxito
Falta todavía jugar la final de Champions, pero el simple hecho de estar ahí es mucho más de lo que pensaban. En la Serie A ya se metieron al segundo puesto, y están en la final de la Coppa Italia.
PSG: fracaso
Todo análisis depende de las expectativas. Y cuando tienes a Mbappé, Messi y Neymar como tus delanteros, lo mínimo que esperas es competir en Champions. Sin embargo, quedar eliminados en octavos, además del fracaso en Copa, hacen que con todo y el título de Ligue One, toda la campaña habrá sido en vano.
Manchester City: éxito… probablemente
El City ya se coronó tricampeón de Inglaterra y está en la final de la FA Cup. Pero los citizens ya han ganado toda cantidad de trofeos locales, y solo les importa el de las orejas grandes: la Champions. Son muy favoritos sobre el Inter, pero mayores sorpresas han pasado. Con todos y sus títulos, sin la UCL, este año se sentirá como más de lo mismo.
Chelsea: fracasototote
No hay club en todo el mundo que gastara más que los Blues este año. De hecho, los 617 MDD son más que lo que se gastó en España, Alemania, Francia e Italia, juntos. Si un solo club gastó más que cuatro ligas, se espera que pelee por todo. Pues… están en el 12 de la Premier, más lejos de Europa que del descenso, fueron humillados 4-0 por el City en tercera ronda de la FA Cup, 4-0 por el Madrid en cuartos de Champions, y han corrido a dos entrenadores. PSG: failure
All analysis depends on expectations. And when you have Mbappé, Messi and Neymar as your forwards, the least you expect is to compete in the Champions League. However, being eliminated in the round of 16, in addition to the failure in the Cup, mean that even with the Ligue One title, the entire campaign will have been in vain.

If a single club spent more than four leagues, they’re expected to fight for everything. Well… they’re 12th in the Premier, further from Europe than from relegation, they were humiliated 4-0 by City in the FA Cup’s third round, 4-0 by Madrid in the Champions League quarterfinals, and they’ve sacked to two managers. Frank Lampard is a placeholder, and the new owners started off on the wrong foot.
