Orlando, FL – On November 3, 2021, as part of Mobility Week, community members, elected and appointed officials, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District 5 Secretary Jared W. Perdue, will participate in an experiential walk – with a blindfold over their eyes – to gain a better understanding of what persons living with blindness and visual impairment face each day crossing a busy roadway. Other participating community leaders include Osceola County Commissioner Viviana Janer, Seminole County Commissioner Jay Zembower, and MetroPlan Orlando Executive Director Gary Huttmann.

Aimed at promoting awareness of the White Cane Law and pedestrian safety, mobility specialists and volunteers will be on-site to provide safety instructions and lead participants on the walk.

FDOT’s Mobility Week White Cane initiative promotes safe, multimodal transportation choices. For more information about Mobility Week 2021, visit www.MobilityWeekFL.com.
