La Ciudad de Kissimmee reunió a la comunidad para la celebración anual de la Unidad en honor a Martin Luther King Jr. el sábado 17 de enero en el Veterans Lawn del Kissimmee Lakefront Park (201 Lakeview Drive). Este evento gratuito y abierto al público honró la vida y el legado perdurable del Dr. King, al tiempo que celebró la fortaleza y la unidad de nuestra comunidad.
Los asistentes pudieron disfrutar de la presentación en vivo de O-Town Motown, degustar deliciosa comida, explorar productos de artesanos y negocios locales y participar en actividades para jóvenes como la KUA Kids Power Zone y la Children’s Art Village. También hubo un área especial de fotos inspiradoras disponible durante todo el día.
La celebración de este año fue posible gracias a Experience Kissimmee, Kissimmee Utility Authority, Toho Water Authority y organizaciones comunitarias, incluidas la NAACP del Condado Osceola, Black Empowerment & Community Council y Black Student Union de Full Sail University.

Este año se conmemora el 40 aniversario de la comisión Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. y la alcaldía de Orlando, que durante cuatro décadas ha servido como un enlace fundamental entre el gobierno municipal, organizaciones comunitarias, el sector empresarial, líderes religiosos, educadores y residentes, trabajando de manera conjunta para mantener viva en Orlando la visión de paz, unidad y comunidad amada solidaria del Dr. King.
El propósito de la Comisión y de su programación anual es reunir cada año a cientos de residentes para reflexionar, recordar y servir, honrando el legado mediante la educación, la participación comunitaria y la acción. La Comisión MLK de Orlando colabora con numerosas organizaciones cívicas y comunitarias para ofrecer eventos gratuitos e inclusivos que promueven la unidad y el servicio en toda la Florida Central.
Martin Luther King Jr. celebration in Kissimmee and Orlando
The City of Kissimmee invited the community to come together for its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Celebration on Saturday, January 17, at Kissimmee Lakefront Park Veterans Lawn (201 Lakeview Drive). This free and open-to-the-public event honored the life and enduring legacy of Dr. King while celebrating the strength and unity of our community.
Attendees enjoyed a live performance by O-Town Motown, sample delicious food, explored offerings from local artisans and businesses, and took part in youth-friendly activities like the KUA Kids Power Zone and the Children’s Art Village. A special inspirational photo area was also available for snapshots throughout the day.
This year’s celebration was made possible thanks to Experience Kissimmee, Kissimmee Utility Authority, Toho Water Authority, and community partners, including NAACP Osceola County, the Black Empowerment & Community Council, and the Full Sail University Black Student Union.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission and the Orlando Mayor’s Office, which for four decades has served as a key link between municipal government, community organizations, the business sector, religious leaders, educators, and residents, working together to keep Dr. King’s vision of peace, unity, and a compassionate community alive in Orlando.
The purpose of the Commission and its annual programming is to bring together hundreds of residents each year to reflect, remember, and serve, honoring the legacy through education, community engagement, and action. The MLK Commission of Orlando collaborates with numerous civic and community organizations to offer free and inclusive events that promote unity and service throughout Central Florida.
