Kissimmee, FL – Kissimmee Utility Authority ofrece cuatro becas universitarias y una beca para trabajadores de líneas eléctricas a través de la Fundación Educativa del Condado Osceola.

- Beca Dr. Gant Quarter Century Community Service Scholarship – esta es una beca de $2,500 por año por 4 años. Esta beca es administrada por la Osceola Education Foundation. Requerimientos: El solicitante debe estar graduado de la escuela secundaria, debe ser residente del Condado Osceola, debe residir actualmente en el territorio de servicio de KUA y debe haber completado horas de voluntariado en la escuela secundaria.
- Beca James C. Welsh de Liderazgo en Ingeniería: una beca de 4 años de $2,500 por año para ser utilizada por estudiantes en la búsqueda de un título de Ingeniería Eléctrica en un colegio o universidad. Esta beca es renovable en base a una declaración firmada anualmente de que el estudiante continúa obteniendo un título en ingeniería eléctrica. Requerimientos: El solicitante debe ser residente del Condado Osceola, debe estar graduado de la escuela secundaria, debe residir actualmente en el territorio de servicio de KUA y debe estar planeando especializarse en ingeniería eléctrica.
- Beca KUA Kathleen Thacker – La Junta Directiva de KUA otorgará una beca de $2,500 por año por 4 años a un estudiante de último año de secundaria que asista a un colegio o universidad acreditada por el Departamento de Educación de EE.UU., que tenga buena reputación académica, que resida en el territorio de servicio de KUA y que haya demostrado servicio a su comunidad. Esta beca es administrada por la Fundación Educativa del Condado Osceola. Requerimientos: El solicitante debe ser residente del Condado Osceola, debe estar graduado de la escuela secundaria, debe tener un GPA no ponderado de 3.0 o superior, debe tener al menos 75 horas de voluntariado y debe residir en el territorio de servicio de KUA (Kissimmee Utility Authority).
- Baca KUA Kissimmee Utility Authority – esta beca es administrada por la Fundación Educativa del Condado Osceola. Requerimientos: El solicitante debe ser residente del Condado Osceola, debe estar graduado de la escuela secundaria, el rango de ingresos familiares debe ser de al menos $50,000, el solicitante debe haber completado horas de voluntariado en la escuela secundaria, debe tener un puntaje SAT de 1087 o mejor O un puntaje ACT de 22 o mejor y debe tener un GPA no ponderado de 2.0 o superior.
- Beca Reginald Hardee Electrical Lineworker – esta beca es para un estudiante graduado que actualmente reside en el territorio de servicio de KUA. Esta beca es para una pasantía remunerada de nueve meses de un mínimo de 20 horas por semana trabajando directamente con el equipo de línea de Kissimmee Utility Authority. Los finalistas de esta beca deberán asistir a una orientación que les permitirá tener la oportunidad de visitar el lugar y aprender más sobre el oficio. Los beneficiarios de las becas no están obligados a trabajar en KUA después de su formación, ni la empresa de servicios públicos garantiza puestos. KUA scholarships
Kissimmee, FL – Kissimmee Utility Authority offers four college scholarships and one electrical lineworker scholarship through the Education Foundation of Osceola County.
- Dr. Gant Quarter Century Community Service Scholarship – This is a 4-year $2,500 per year scholarship. This schloarship is administered by the Osceola Education Foundation. Qualifications: applicant must be graduating from high school, must be an Osceola County resident, must be currently residing in the KUA service territory, and must have completed volunteer hours in high school.
- James C. Welsh Leadership in Engineering Scholarship – a 4-year $2,500 per year scholarship to be used by students in pursuit of an Electrical Engineering degree at a college or university. This scholarship is renewable based on an annually signed statement that the student is continuing to pursue an electrical engineering degree. Qualifications: applicant must be an Osceola County resident, must be graduating from high school, must be currently residing in the KUA service territory, and must be planning to major in electrical engineering.
- KUA Kathleen Thacker Scholarship – the KUA Board of Directors will award a 4-year $2,500 per year scholarship to a high school senior attending a college or university accredited by the US Department of Education, in good academic standing, residing in the KUA service territory, and who has demonstrated service to his community. This scholarship is administered by the Education Foundation of Osceola County. Qualifications: applicant must been an Osceola County resident, must be graduating from high school, must have an un-weighted GPA of 3.0 or higher, must have at least 75 volunteer hours, and must reside in the KUA (Kissimmee Utility Authority) service territory.
- KUA Kissimmee Utility Authority Scholarship – this scholarship is administered by the Education Foundation of Osceola County. Qualifications: applicant must be an Osceola County resident, must be graduating from high school, family income range must be at least $50,000, applicant must have completed volunteer hours in high school, must have an SAT score of 1087 or better OR an ACT score of 22 or better, and must have an un-weighted GPA of 2.0 or higher.
- Reginald Hardee Electrical Lineworker Scholarship – this scholarship is for a graduating student who currently resides in the KUA service territory. This scholarship is for a nine-month paid internship of a minimum of 20 hours per week working directly with the line-crew at Kissimmee Utility Authority. Finalists for this scholarship will be required to attend an orientation to allow them the opportunity to come on-site and learn more about the trade. Scholarship recipients are not required to work at KUA following their training, nor does the utility guarantee positions. Qualifications: possession of a valid appropriate driver’s license issued by the State of Florida, applicant must be a senior graduating from high school on current school year, must be currently residing in the KUA service territory, applicant must be planning to pursue a career in the electric utility industry, and applicant must be an Osceola County resident.
