Septiembre es el “Mes Nacional de la Acción contra el Hambre”. Actualmente, 1 de cada 7 personas en el Centro de Florida enfrenta inseguridad alimentaria, lo que significa que no tienen acceso confiable a alimentos saludables. Esto incluye a más de 500,000 personas que no saben de dónde vendrá su próxima comida.

City of Orlando Art Pollination “Murals on Church Street”

September is national “Hunger Action Month.” Currently, 1 in 7 people in Central Florida are food insecure, which means they don’t have reliable access to healthy food. This includes more than 500,000 people who don’t know where their next meal will come from.
In support of efforts to fight hunger across our region, the City of Orlando created Art Pollination, a unique initiative that utilizes temporary art installations to raise awareness of (and promote solutions around) the shared challenges of food insecurity and hunger in our community.
As part of this initiative, a talented group of local artists, juried and chosen for Art Pollination, is transforming the Parramore Main Street area with powerful murals inspired by the crucial work of nonprofit partners addressing hunger issues throughout Orlando.
The City of Orlando invites the community to a special preview event for “Art Pollination: Murals on Church Street,” featuring 11 new mural designs that will be displayed in the Parramore Main Street area.
Guests can stroll Parramore Main Street to watch artists bring their visions to life, enjoy free bagged lunches from Plate Above Catering and Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida (for the first 100 guests), experience live performances by FusionFest, and take part in a planting activity with Fleet Farming | Ideas for Us.
Art Pollination has been made possible by a $1 million grant through the Bloomberg Philanthropies Public Art Challenge, which brings together mayors, residents, and artists to develop innovative, temporary public art projects that address important civic issues in their communities.
