Orlando, FL – Como el primer programa de su tipo en Florida, el Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts lanza el *Florida Musical Theatre Intensive* (FMTI), un programa preprofesional de dos semanas que reunirá a los estudiantes de secundaria más talentosos de Florida en el ámbito de las artes escénicas, del 14 al 28 de junio de 2026. El programa, de modalidad “todo incluido”, cubre todas las clases, ensayos, clases magistrales, alojamiento, comidas, eventos especiales, actividades comunitarias y los costos totales de producción, incluidas las presentaciones en un escenario profesional. Se ofrecen becas para estudiantes que cumplan con los requisitos; estas se evaluarán como parte del proceso de audición y admisión.

Los estudiantes recibirán formación en voz, danza, actuación y técnicas de audición mediante un plan de estudios estilo conservatorio en la *AdventHealth School of the Arts* del Dr. Phillips Center, colaborando con profesionales de la industria y personal creativo. Se recomienda, aunque no es obligatorio, contar con experiencia previa en artes escénicas; el programa valora especialmente la dedicación, la curiosidad y la disposición para aprender.

Dr. Phillips Center Launches First Ever Florida Musical Theatre Intensive for Florida’s Top High School Performers
Orlando, FL – As the first program of its kind in Florida, the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts is launching the *Florida Musical Theatre Intensive* (FMTI), a two-week pre-professional program bringing together Florida’s most talented high school performing arts students from June 14 to June 28, 2026. This initiative expands the center’s growing arts education offerings, which already include the *Applause Awards* and ongoing training through the *AdventHealth School of the Arts*.
The Florida Musical Theatre Intensive launches its inaugural season with *West Side Story* on June 26 and 27 at the Dr. Phillips Center—a production featuring music by Leonard Bernstein and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. As FMTI’s first large-scale production, this performance reflects the rigor and artistic standards central to the conservatory model. Featuring pre-professional artists from across Florida, the production stands out for its powerful vocal quality, dynamic choreography, and disciplined storytelling, showcasing the talent of the next generation of musical theater performers.
The all-inclusive program covers all classes, rehearsals, masterclasses, housing, meals, special events, community activities, and total production costs, including performances on a professional stage. Scholarships are available for eligible students; these will be assessed as part of the audition and admission process. “This intensive program reflects the direction we are taking: expanding our footprint and access to arts education across the state,” said Kathy Ramsberger, President and CEO of the Dr. Phillips Center.
Students will receive training in voice, dance, acting, and audition techniques through a conservatory-style curriculum at the Dr. Phillips Center’s AdventHealth School of the Arts, working alongside industry professionals and creative staff. The program will culminate in a full-scale production of *West Side Story* in the award-winning Steinmetz Hall.

Admission is based on a video audition, with 60 students selected to participate. Applicants must be Florida residents entering grades 10 through 12 who share a passion for musical theater. While prior performing arts experience is recommended, it is not required; the program places a high value on dedication, curiosity, and a willingness to learn.
