Condado Osceola , FL – El 5 de marzo de 2026, poco después de las 7:00 p. m., los agentes de Osceola respondieron a informes en Simpson Road sobre un hombre que se hacía pasar por policía. A las 6:30 p. m., un hombre de 18 años conducía por Buenaventura Blvd cuando observó una camioneta Chevy detenida en la carretera, bloqueando el tráfico. El joven de 18 años rodeó el vehículo detenido y continuó conduciendo. El sospechoso, Carlos Barros-Villahermosa, de 59 años (3/4/1966), condujo la camioneta Chevy detrás del sospechoso y activó las luces azules intermitentes. El sospechoso luego condujo junto al vehículo de la víctima, del lado del conductor.
La víctima bajó la ventanilla y le pidió al sospechoso que le mostrara sus credenciales, ya que no creía que el vehículo del sospechoso fuera una patrulla policial. El sospechoso mostró una placa.
La víctima se detuvo en un estacionamiento y el sospechoso se acercó a su vehículo y se identificó como policía. La víctima notó la placa, pero el sospechoso no portaba ningún arma. El sospechoso le pidió su licencia de conducir y el registro y comenzó a discutir con él sobre su forma de conducir. La víctima observó lo que creía que era un vehículo policial encubierto en el estacionamiento y le dijo al sospechoso que quería que otro agente estuviera presente. El sospechoso regresó a su vehículo, un Chevy Trailblazer 2003, y salió rápidamente del estacionamiento.
Se obtuvieron videos y una foto del sospechoso y de su vehículo del pasajero de la víctima, los cuales se entregaron al agente que intervino. El agente contactó al sospechoso que portaba una placa y un arma. El sospechoso le dijo al agente que trabajaba como investigador contratado para el Departamento de Defensa y que era un policía retirado de Puerto Rico. El agente arrestó al sospechoso y lo acusó de suplantación de identidad de policía y privación ilegal de la libertad. La camioneta fue incautada y se le encontraron dispositivos de iluminación con un interruptor que activaba las luces azules. Se localizó un interruptor en la consola que activa una sirena.
Se solicita a cualquier persona que haya sido detenida por el sospechoso, identificándose como policía en un incidente anterior, que se comunique con la Oficina del Sheriff de Osceola.
Man Arrested for Impersonating a Police Officer
Osceola County, FL – On March 5, 2026, shortly after 7:00 p.m., Osceola County Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports on Simpson Road of a man impersonating a police officer. At 6:30 p.m., an 18-year-old man was driving on Buenaventura Blvd., approaching Osceola Parkway, when he noticed a Chevy pickup truck stopped in the roadway, blocking traffic. The 18-year-old drove around the stopped vehicle and continued driving. The suspect, Carlos Barros-Villahermosa, 59 (born March 4, 1966), drove the Chevy pickup truck behind the suspect and activated its flashing blue lights. The suspect then drove alongside the victim’s vehicle on the driver’s side.
The victim rolled down his window and asked the suspect to show his credentials, as he did not believe the suspect’s vehicle was a police patrol car. The suspect displayed a badge, as both he and the victim were traveling on the roadway. The victim stopped in a parking lot, and the suspect approached his vehicle and identified himself as a police officer. The victim noticed the badge, but the suspect was unarmed. The suspect asked for his driver’s license and registration and began arguing with him about his driving. The victim noticed what he believed to be an unmarked police vehicle in the parking lot and told the suspect he wanted another officer present. The suspect returned to his vehicle, a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer, and quickly drove out of the parking lot.
Video footage and a photo of the suspect and his vehicle were obtained from the victim’s passenger and given to the responding officer. The officer contacted the suspect, who was carrying a badge and a weapon. The suspect told the officer he worked as a contract investigator for the Department of Defense and was a retired police officer from Puerto Rico. The officer arrested the suspect and charged him with impersonating a police officer and unlawful imprisonment. The SUV was impounded, and lighting devices with a switch that activated blue lights were found inside. A switch was located on the console that activates a siren.
Anyone who was stopped by the suspect, who identified himself as a police officer in a previous incident, is asked to contact the Osceola Sheriff’s Office.
