Reps. Darren Soto and Jim Clyburn visit churches in Kissimmee and St. Cloud

Kissimmee, FL – On Sunday, October 11, 2026, Congressman Darren Soto and Congressman Jim Clyburn attended services at Solid Rock Community Church and St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, two historically Black churches in Osceola County. There they spoke with church leaders and congregants about the challenges facing their communities, including rising costs, and the importance of voting on November 3.

The previous night, October 10, Reps. Soto and Clyburn attended the NAACP Osceola Freedom Fund Golden Masquerade Ball and discussed their work to fight for civil rights, access to quality healthcare and education, and an economy that works for everyone.

Reps. Soto and Clyburn began Sunday by attending services at Solid Rock Community Church in Kissimmee, where they were greeted by Rev. Tim and Lady Jill Quainoo, who have led Solid Rock since 2024. Solid Rock Community Church is a multigenerational, historically Black church located in Kissimmee. Established in 1968, the church serves the Osceola County area through various outreach initiatives rooted in faith, family, and community engagement.

Reps. Soto and Clyburn also attended services at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church in St. Cloud, where they joined Pastor Marcus A. Stovall and his wife, Jacquita “Lady J” Stovall. St. Luke is a historic Missionary Baptist church that has served the Whitted community for decades. St. Luke engages with the community and its congregation through worship, family ministries, wellness programs, arts, and community outreach, including support for seniors, students, and local cultural events.

“Churches are central to community life here in Osceola County and it was my honor to attend services at two revered places of worship with Jim Clyburn,” said Rep. Soto. “During our visits, we heard firsthand from voters impacted by rising costs who are concerned about their and their families’ future. I told them I shared their concern and am committed to working with whoever I need to in Washington to ease the economic burdens these families are facing.”

“The families we met this weekend are worried about what everything costs, from groceries to healthcare, and they deserve someone in Washington who will fight for them,” said Rep. Clyburn. “Darren Soto and I have worked together to make health care accessible and housing affordable for communities that too often get left behind, and Republicans are trying to undo that work. Florida’s 9th congressional district needs Darren in Congress.”

Rep. Soto has a long history of fighting for Osceola County communities, including advocating for clean drinking water for residents of the historic Whitted Neighborhood. In 2024, Rep. Soto secured $850,000 to support infrastructure improvements of the Whitted neighborhood’s water system.
