Condado Osceola, FL – Durante la última semana, se investigaron dos incidentes separados que involucraron a estudiantes que llevaban cuchillos a la escuela, lo que resultó en dos arrestos. Necesitamos que los padres recuerden a los estudiantes que traer cuchillos o cualquier otra arma a la escuela está prohibido y resultará en un arresto.
El primer incidente ocurrió el 5 de marzo de 2026 en la Escuela Intermedia Discovery. Un estudiante vio que otro estudiante (un joven de 14 años) tenía un cuchillo en su mochila y reportó el incidente al subdirector. El Oficial de Recursos Escolares (oficial de la OCSO) y el subdirector aseguraron el cuchillo de cocina e interrogaron al sospechoso. Este admitió haber llevado el cuchillo a la escuela y posteriormente fue arrestado por el agente y acusado del delito grave de posesión de un arma en propiedad escolar.
El segundo incidente ocurrió el 9 de marzo en la Escuela Secundaria Tohopekaliga. Un joven de 15 años amenazó a una estudiante. Se encontró una navaja en la mochila del sospechoso. El agente asignado como agente de recursos escolares entrevistó tanto al sospechoso como a la víctima. Con base en la investigación, el sospechoso de 15 años fue arrestado y acusado de posesión de un arma en propiedad escolar y de amenaza escrita o electrónica de matar a alguien. Ambos delitos graves.
La Oficina del Sheriff de Osceola cree que ambos incidentes fueron identificados antes de que se tomara ninguna medida, gracias a que otros estudiantes denunciaron.
Los administradores de cada campus actuaron de inmediato y los sospechosos fueron arrestados por los Agentes de Recursos Escolares del Sheriff del Condado Osceola.
Knives found at two Osceola schools
Osceola County, FL – During the past week, two separate incidents involving students bringing knives to school were investigated, resulting in two arrests.
We need parents to remind students that bringing knives or any other weapons to school is prohibited and will result in arrest.
The first incident occurred on March 5, 2026, at Discovery Middle School. A student saw another student (a 14-year-old boy) with a knife in his backpack and reported the incident to the assistant principal. The School Resource Officer (SRO) and the assistant principal secured the kitchen knife and questioned the suspect. He admitted to bringing the knife to school and was subsequently arrested by the officer and charged with the felony of possessing a weapon on school property.
The second incident occurred on March 9 at Tohopekaliga High School. A 15-year-old boy threatened a female student. A knife was found in the suspect’s backpack. The officer assigned as a school resource officer interviewed both the suspect and the victim. Based on the investigation, the 15-year-old suspect was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon on school property and making a written or electronic threat to kill someone. Both are felonies.
The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office believes both incidents were identified before any action was taken, thanks to reports from other students.
Administrators at each campus acted immediately, and the suspects were arrested by Osceola County Sheriff’s School Resource Officers.
