Celebrate a century and a half of Orlando
Orlando, FL – In 2025, the City of Orlando is celebrating its 150th anniversary. From its humble beginnings as a small frontier town in 1875, Orlando has grown into a vibrant and diverse community.
With over 300,000 residents calling Orlando home, our community offers something for everyone, including arts, culture, sports, outdoor amenities, thriving businesses small and big and a food scene that is diverse and always growing.
To celebrate its 150th anniversary, the City of Orlando is planning a year-long celebration filled with community events, historical exhibits and public art installations. Residents and visitors alike will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities, including volunteering, supporting local businesses and exploring the city’s rich history.
On July 31st, as the community reached a milestone, hundreds of residents volunteered their time to strengthen Orlando during a citywide day of service. Their efforts – from distributing meals to beautifying the city to helping older residents stay active – were a great showcase of Orlando’s unity, compassion and kindness.
