La Banda de Jazz A de la Escuela de Artes del Condado de Osceola (OCSA) obtuvo el primer lugar en el 31.º Concurso y Festival Internacional Anual de Bandas de Jazz de Escuelas Secundarias Essentially Ellington, presentado por Jazz at Lincoln Center en la ciudad de Nueva York. Osceola County, FL – Exceptional talent and dedication took center stage as student musicians at the Osceola County School for the Arts (OCSA) captured two of the nation’s most prestigious honors, with the Wind Ensemble winning the 2026 President’s Cup and Jazz Band A earning first place at Essentially Ellington. These impressive achievements highlight the depth of musical excellence fostered at OCSA and the dedication of students, educators, and families who support the arts.
2026 President’s Cup National Concert Band Invitation Overall Winner
The Osceola County School for the Arts (OCSA) Wind Ensemble was selected for the 2026 President’s Cup National Concert Band Invitation based on Superior ratings earned at the 2025 Music Performance Assessments while playing the highest-level literature. Only eight bands get to opportunity to compete in the event, and were required to learn the same piece entitled “Revolutionary” by Andrew Boysen, Jr. After the performance, the OCSA Wind Ensemble was recognized as the overall winner of the President’s Cup for having the most outstanding performance. In addition, each band had two students selected to perform the same piece with the “Pershing’s Own” United States Army Band in an evening concert. Senior Olivia Jones, Flute, and Junior Madyson Cordero, Alto Sax, were selected for this honor.
“This ensemble worked hard all year for this incredible opportunity, and I’m so proud to stand in front of them each day,” said William Molineaux, Director of Concert Bands at the Osceola County School for the Arts. “They have really stepped up, and their performance was absolutely breath-talking! This is a special group, and this award proves how much talent they have.”
In addition to competing, students had the opportunity to also attend master classes and clinics with retired members of the US Army Band.
First Place At Essentially Ellington High School Jazz Band Competition & Festival
Osceola County School for the Arts Jazz A captured first place at the 31st Annual International Essentially Ellington High School Jazz Band Competition & Festival, presented by Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City, earning top honors while also receiving multiple ensemble and individual awards that highlighted the extraordinary depth of talent within the school’s program.
This year, 119 outstanding high school jazz ensembles from around the world submitted audition recordings, with only 20 ensembles selected to advance to the International Finals in New York City. From this elite field, OCSA Jazz A rose to the top, earning first place overall, Outstanding Rhythm Section, and Outstanding Trumpet Section, while receiving a remarkable number of individual performance honors.
