¿Ganará Orlando City su primer trofeo internacional?
El 2022 será recordado en Orlando como el año del primer título oficial del club de la ciudad, la US Open Cup en septiembre. Ese logro permitió un nuevo hito para el club: jugar la Concacaf Champions League este año. Por primera vez, los leones morados tendrán un duelo internacional, y el primero no será nada fácil. Deberán jugar la primera ronda ante los Tigres, uno de los dos grandes favoritos y campeón de este torneo en 2020. El 7 de marzo, en el Volcán, y el 15, en el Exploria, Orlando City comenzará su historia internacional, buscando ahora otra clase de trofeo, si logra superar esa (y 3 rondas más) para ser campeones de Concacaf.
¿Dónde jugarán Brady y Rodgers?
Dos leyendas de la NFL serán agentes libres en unas semanas. Después de retirarse, TB12 se arrepintió y hasta estuvo a punto de llegar a Miami. Este año ha estado frustrado con los Bucaneros, y muy probablemente quiera continuar su carrera, más allá de sus 46 años, pero en otra ciudad. ¿Miami, San Francisco, Las Vegas?
Por su parte, AR12 también ha tenido un año decepcionante, que podría mejorar si logra meterse milagrosamente a playoffs, pero donde difícilmente pueda hacer ruido. A-Rod, a punto de retirarse, decidió volver a Green Bay con tres contratos de un año, y con tanto drama más la sombra de Jordan Love (su suplente), es posible que Rodgers se mude al sur en el verano, con los Titanes como la mejor opción (hasta compró casa en Nashville). ¿Los #12 se quedarán con sus colores? ¿Colgarán los botines? ¿O los veremos con otro uniforme?
¿Hasta dónde llegará la reconstrucción del Magic?
Hay muchas ilusiones alrededor del Orlando Magic. Y es que, después de un 2021 de pesadilla, esta temporada ha habido buenos avances rumbo a un posible contendiente. Banchero ha demostrado su valor como la selección global #1, y otros jóvenes como Anthony, Fultz, Bamba, Carter Jr., los hermanos Wagner y hasta sorpresivamente Bol Bol han brillado. Su racha de 6 triunfos al hilo en diciembre, incluyendo a equipos como Clippers, Hawks y Celtics, fue la muestra que la base para el futuro está ahí.
Sin embargo, ver su punto máximo este año es impensable. Son antepenúltimos del este al momento, uno de los 3 peores de la liga en puntos por partido, y los playoffs este año no son realmente la meta. Este año lo importante es dar pasos hacia el futuro, recuperar lesionados (Jonathan Isaac sigue fuera), y definir qué falta por mejorar.
¿Quién será el nuevo DT de la Selección Mexicana?
¿Será un técnico local, como Ambriz, Almada o el Jimmy Lozano? ¿El regreso de alguien como el Piojo Herrera o Hugo Sánchez? ¿Alguna exportación como Pochettino, Gareca, Herve Renard o Roberto Martínez? Un reto enorme, con el mundial en casa como la meta, es lo que asumirá el próximo entrenador de México, al cual conoceremos muy pronto.

A new year begins, and in the world of sports it brings us great unknowns to solve.
Will Orlando City win its first international trophy?
2022 will be remembered in Orlando as the year of the city’s club’s first official title, the US Open Cup in September. That achievement allowed a new milestone for the club: playing in the Concacaf Champions League this year. For the first time, the purple lions will have an international match, and the first one won’t be easy. They’ll have to play the first round against Tigres, one of the two great favorites and champion of this tournament in 2020. On March 7, at the Volcán, and on the 15th, at the Exploria, Orlando City will begin its international history, now looking for another kind of trophy, if they can get past that (and 3 more rounds) to be Concacaf champions.
Where will Brady and Rodgers play?
Two NFL legends will be free agents in a few weeks. After retiring, TB12 regretted it and even came close to going to Miami. This year he’s been frustrated with the Buccaneers, and most likely he wants to continue his career, beyond his 46 years, but in another city. Miami, San Francisco, Las Vegas?

How far will the Magic’s rebuild go?
There’s plenty of illusion around the Orlando Magic. And it’s that, after a nightmare 2021, this season there have been good advances towards a possible contender. Banchero has shown his worth as the #1 overall pick, and other youngsters like Anthony, Fultz, Bamba, Carter Jr., the Wagner brothers and even surprisingly Bol Bol have shined. His 6-win streak in December, including against teams like the Clippers, Hawks and Celtics, was proof that the foundation for the future is there.
However, seeing its peak this year is unthinkable. They’re second to bottom in the East at the moment, one of the bottom 3 in the league in points per game, and the playoffs this year aren’t really the goal. This year the important thing is to take steps towards the future, recover from injuries (Jonathan Isaac is still out), and define what needs to be improved.
Who will be the new coach of the Mexican National Team?
Will it be a local manager, like Ambriz, Almada or Jimmy Lozano? The return of someone like Piojo Herrera or Hugo Sánchez? Any export like Pochettino, Gareca, Herve Renard, or Roberto Martínez? A huge challenge, with the World Cup at home as the goal, is what the next coach of Mexico will take on, whom we will meet very soon.
